Replace a PDF in Drive

Replaces the content of a Drive PDF without changing its link, sharing or folder.

Description

A shared PDF is linked from everywhere: emails, websites, shortcuts. Replacing it with a new file breaks all those links. This tool replaces its content: the file stays the same, with the same link, sharing and folder.

It does what Drive's "Manage versions" does, plus three things: renaming in the same step, keeping the old version forever (Drive otherwise deletes it after 30 days) and a log of who replaced what.

  • One PDF at a time, from a dialog, with the new content taken from your computer.
  • In bulk, from a spreadsheet tab, in two steps: "Check the list" changes nothing and reports what blocks; "Apply" states the exact number of replacements before doing them.
  • Nothing is replaced blindly: a fingerprint freezes what was checked, and a row edited or a PDF changed in the meantime is refused.
  • Automatic resume past Google's 6-minute limit, with no duplicate and no skip. The tool deletes no file.

Use Cases & Features

Update an already shared policy, price list or manual, one at a time or in bulk, without breaking a single link.
